Operation
The Alfa Laval MOPX 207 Centrifuge is a self-cleaning, disc-stack centrifuge ideal for the continuous, three-phase separation of fuels and mineral oils.
With a 7.5 HP motor, the MOPX 207 centrifuge has a bowl speed of 6,325 RPM. Its OEM application table lists 7,400 L/h (32.58 US GPM derived) for gas oil at 40°C and 5,000 L/h (22.01 US GPM derived) for diesel at 40°C and 13 cSt.
The Alfa Laval MOPX-207 is a versatile, 'self-cleaning' centrifuge that is small enough to be manually serviced without the need for lifting devices (cranes, hoists, etc.)
Capacity is fluid- and condition-specific; the gas-oil value must not be reused as a diesel, condensate, waste-oil, or water capacity. See Dolphin's technical-data methodology and machine-readable registry for the source basis and conversion method.
Dolphin Centrifuge is the independent specialist in Alfa Laval centrifuges. Apart from Alfa Laval itself, Dolphin is the reliable source for quality Alfa Laval machines: remanufactured MOPX 207 centrifuges, turnkey systems, parts, and service, built on 40+ years of Alfa Laval experience and led by Sanjay Prabhu, M.S.M.E. Dolphin is an independent remanufacturer and is not affiliated with Alfa Laval.
The MOPX 207 is supplied either as a bare remanufactured centrifuge or as the Dolphin DMPX-028 module, a Dolphin-engineered turnkey skid featuring a remanufactured Alfa Laval MOPX 207. WHPX 407 is a separate base-machine option for that commercial module and retains its own capacity records. The hero photo above is a DMPX-028 module running a MOPX 207 at a power plant.
Applications
The MOPX-207 finds a variety of applications in fuel and lubrication purification applications. Some of the popular applications are:
- Diesel Fuel
- Waste Oil
- Black Diesel
- WVO or Yellow Grease
- Biodiesel Glycerol
- Heavy Fuel Oil
- Machining Coolant
- Quenching Oil
- Light Crude Oil

| Top Covers (Collecting) | Silium (Aluminum Alloy) |
| Frame | Nodular Cast Iron |
Installation Requirements
- Electrical
- 460 V / 3-phase standard; 240 V / 3-phase available. Single-phase sites: customer can add a phase converter.
- Operating water
- 50 psig, clean potable filtered water - city water works best, soft water only.
- Compressed air
- 100 psig, ~15 cfm (portable compressor is fine). Primary use: AODD sludge pumps on self-cleaning machines.
- Feed
- Hotter separates better - WVO/thick/emulsified oils ideal ~180°F; HFO 200°F+. Pre-strain dirty feed to under 250 microns. A PLC-controlled feed pump is usually built into the skid; if customer-supplied, use positive-displacement/AODD pumps - avoid centrifugal pumps on emulsion-prone fluids.
- Drain
- Separated sludge via AODD pump, 1 to 1.5 inch outlet. Separated water: 1 to 1.5 inch pressurized, or 3 to 4 inch gravity drain.
- Foundation & environment
- Level concrete pad is usually sufficient; small units available on portable cart skids. Indoor install preferred. Outdoor installs must be in a climate-controlled/heated enclosure to prevent freezing - freezing is a safety hazard.
Alfa Laval WHPX 407 Partial-Discharge Disc-Stack Centrifuge
The Alfa Laval WHPX 407 Centrifuge is a self-cleaning disc-stack centrifuge designed for the three-phase separation of fuel oils, such as light fuel oil (LFO).
With a 10 HP motor, the WHPX 407 centrifuge has a bowl speed of 7,125 RPM. Its OEM application table lists 6,000 L/h (26.42 US GPM derived) for marine diesel and 2,800 L/h (12.33 US GPM derived) for 180 cSt HFO, centrifuged at 90–98°C. These are separate fluid records, not one universal WHPX 407 rating.
Also, the WHPX-407 is a partial-discharge centrifuge. This means that this centrifuge is capable of discharging only the accumulated sludge and minimizing fluid loss.
Applications
Similar to the Alfa Laval MOPX-207, the WHPX-407 finds many applications in all kinds of 3-phase separation duties. Some of the popular applications are:

Alfa Laval MOPX 207 vs WHPX 407
Both machines are Alfa Laval self-cleaning, three-phase disc-stack centrifuges in the same frame size, and Dolphin supplies and remanufactures both. The practical differences are the discharge type and the drive:
- Alfa Laval MOPX 207: full-discharge bowl, 6,325 RPM, 7.5 HP, 1.00 gallon sludge space, and an OEM diesel application value of 5,000 L/h (22.01 US GPM derived) at 40 °C and 13 cSt. The whole bowl content is ejected on each shot, which suits heavier or stickier solids.
- Alfa Laval WHPX 407: partial-discharge bowl, 7,125 RPM, 10 HP, 1.30 gallon sludge space, an OEM marine-diesel value of 6,000 L/h (26.42 US GPM derived) at 40 °C and 13 cSt, and separate HFO and lube-oil records. Only the accumulated sludge is ejected, which keeps product loss low on valuable fluids.
Dolphin's DMPX-028 module is built on either base machine, so the choice comes down to fluid value, solids character, and which remanufactured Alfa Laval bowl is in stock.
Alfa Laval WSPX 207 TGP Partial-Discharge Disc-Stack Centrifuge
The Alfa Laval WSPX 207 Centrifuge is a self-cleaning disc-stack centrifuge designed for the three-phase concentration of water-based liquids such as machine coolants and washer liquids.
The WSPX 207 has a 7.5 HP motor and a 6,400 RPM bowl. Dolphin publishes a separate 20 US GPM application figure for water-based machining coolant; it is not a MOPX 207 or WHPX 407 OEM capacity and is outside the current OEM capacity registry.
Applications
The Alfa Laval WSPX-207 is very similar to the WHPX-407, except that this centrifuge is a concentrator. A concentrator centrifuge is designed to separate a small oil volume from a large volume of water or water-based fluid. Some of the popular applications are:
- Machining Coolant
- Parts Washer Fluid
- Water-based Drawing Lubricant
