Installation Requirements
- Electrical
- 460 V / 3-phase standard; 240 V / 3-phase available. Single-phase sites: customer can add a phase converter.
- Operating water
- 50 psig, clean potable filtered water - city water works best, soft water only.
- Compressed air
- 100 psig, ~15 cfm (portable compressor is fine). Primary use: AODD sludge pumps on self-cleaning machines.
- Feed
- Hotter separates better - WVO/thick/emulsified oils ideal ~180°F; HFO 200°F+. Pre-strain dirty feed to under 250 microns. A PLC-controlled feed pump is usually built into the skid; if customer-supplied, use positive-displacement/AODD pumps - avoid centrifugal pumps on emulsion-prone fluids.
- Drain
- Separated sludge via AODD pump, 1 to 1.5 inch outlet. Separated water: 1 to 1.5 inch pressurized, or 3 to 4 inch gravity drain.
- Foundation & environment
- Level concrete pad is usually sufficient; small units available on portable cart skids. Indoor install preferred. Outdoor installs must be in a climate-controlled/heated enclosure to prevent freezing - freezing is a safety hazard.
Key Applications
Waste Oil Reclamation
The DMPX-028 can process industrial used-oil streams including used motor oil, hydraulic oil, and gear oil, separating water and particulate solids. Waste-oil throughput is application-specific and must be sized from viscosity, temperature, density difference, solids loading, and the selected base machine. Biodiesel Production
The DMPX-028 is used in biodiesel finishing to remove residual methanol, water, and glycerin after transesterification. The published diesel values are not biodiesel ratings; Dolphin sizes this duty from the actual feed and separation target.
HFO Purification
On the WHPX 407 base machine, published HFO 380 cSt capacity is 2,300 L/h (10.13 US GPM derived), with viscosity specified at 50°C and centrifugation at 98°C. The HFO curve belongs only to WHPX 407 and is not a MOPX 207 rating.
Hydraulic & Lube Oil Maintenance
Published lube-oil capacity is 2,600 L/h (11.45 US GPM derived) for MOPX 207 R&O / engine lube oil and 2,700–3,200 L/h (11.89–14.09 US GPM derived) for WHPX 407 cross-head R&O oil, both centrifuged at 80–90°C. Other lube-oil duties require application sizing.
Machining Coolant & Quench Oil
The DMPX-028 platform also handles machining coolant separation, quench oil clarification, and cutting oil recovery in metalworking operations - applications listed for both the Alfa Laval MOPX 207 and WHPX 407 base machines.

What is the sludge bowl capacity of the DMPX-028?
